Review: Nortek Electa Fluo WL keyboard and mouse set

A keyboard set that looks stylish but is somewhat gimmicky

Selecting the right keyboard and mouse is a more important decision than most of us realise. After all, they are used all the time.

The Nortek Electa Fluo certainly adds a degree of style to a PC, but it comes at the cost of comfort. Only the mouse is wireless, but this is a reasonable compromise as the keyboard does not need to move about.

The keyboard has a blue light behind the luminous keys. However, this made a high-pitched buzzing noise in use not unlike a mosquito, so it was just as well that it can be switched off.

Typing was reasonably comfortable, although not up to the standard of, say, a good Logitech keyboard. There are 12 hotkeys for launching applications.

The mouse is small and the Nortek logo on the top is a little confusing because it looks like a button but doesn’t actually serve a purpose. The greatest problem with the mouse is its base station.

It has four very bright blue lights used to show when the mouse is in contact. They do this by flashing rapidly whenever a signal is received. In practice, this is very distracting.

The Electa Fluo is available from phoenixdirectuk or by calling 0800 0155777.
