Chunky digital camera from Kodak.
Image quality is one thing but if you can't figure out how to take a picture with your digital camera in the first place, it doesn't count for much. With its 3.1 megapixel resolution, the Kodak DX6340 has enough image quality for all but the most demanding digital photographer but better still, it's one of the easiest-to-use digital cameras we've seen.
The DX6340's chunky design helps in part - it's comfortable to hold and has large, clearly labelled buttons. Largest of all is the mode control dial that rotates with a satisfying click. Our favourite feature is that choosing a mode causes a brief explanation of its purpose to appear - in plain English - on the colour screen. There are modes for fast-moving, portrait, night and landscape scenes, plus a fully manual mode for those that like to fiddle.
Images from the DX6340 are very good and the 4x optical zoom gives plenty of scope for creative composition. The camera's 16Mb of internal memory can hold 17 snaps at the highest resolution of 2032 x 1524 pixels and there's an SD Card slot for supplementing this.

Our verdict
Overall: Great images and value but the chunky design won't appeal to all.
