Need more buttons on your mouse? The G700 has plenty
Logitech's G700 laser mouse is designed specifically for gamers.
It has a USB cable which is detachable so the mouse can be used either wired or wirelessly. A single rechargeable AA battery powers the mouse in wireless mode and is topped up whenever the USB cable is attached.
The G700 isn't short on controls, with the standard left and right buttons, three further buttons on the top, a tiltable scroll wheel and four buttons on the side. Most of these can be customised using the supplied software.
A dedicated ‘DPI' button just below the scroll wheel lets you quickly switch between sensitivity modes. For example, when using a sniper rifle in a game you can select a low sensitivity mode so the pointer moves more slowly, reverting to a higher sensitivity mode when more frantic, less accurate shooting is required.
In testing, we found the mouse smooth, comfortable to hold and extremely responsive. The big stumbling block, however, is the price. At £90, the G700 is hugely expensive, and most gamers will be happy with a cheaper model, such as Microsoft's £40 Sidewinder X8.
