A high-definition camcorder that fits into a pocket
The Flip Video MinoHD costs a fair bit at £180 but can record footage in the 720p resolution
The Flip Video MinoHD 8GB is a small, well-designed camcorder that records, as the name suggests, in high definition (HD).
Even some phones now do that, but the Flip Video MinoHD can record footage in the 720p resolution at a consistently good frame-rate, which some phones can't do.
The 8GB of storage holds around two hours of video (a one-hour 4GB model is also available).
It's ergonomically designed, fitting comfortably in one hand with clear control. A USB plug flips out from the side, giving it its name, and there is a HDMI socket if you want to attach it directly to a flat-screen TV.
The new model is largely the same as the last one we reviewed with the addition of image stabilisation to combat blurred video from shaky hands.
The built-in screen was small but useable. We were impressed with the clarity of the video it shot, and sound was decent too.
Quality was better than from many other phones we have seen and, though expensive, it's still impressive considering how small it is.
