An impressive but expensive router upgrade
The router can sit upright on its stand or can be fixed to a wall
The Draytek 2710Vn is a feature-packed wireless router that would suit a serious home user or small office.
We looked at the Vigor 2110Vn version for cable broadband users last year but the 2710Vn is the ADSL model for people who get their broadband over a standard phone line.
The router can sit upright on its stand or can be fixed to a wall, and it has three antennas to send and receive wireless signals.
Setup wasn't as easy as on routers supplied pre-configured by many ISPs but a bit of perseverance will leave you with something of better quality and capable of much more.
The 2710Vn supports internet telephony (VoIP) and our version came with some call credit to get us started.
As well as good security features, we set up web filtering (for parental control) through the router's interface, which is accessed in a web browser.
The USB socket can be used to add a printer or memory key for sharing over the network, or even a 3G modem that will step in should the ADSL connection fail.
This was not the easiest router to set up, but if you can get beyond the frugal quick-start guide there is plenty to recommend the Draytek Vigor 2710Vn.
