Cheap printer-scanner – but with high ongoing costs
Advent's AWP10 printer-scanner looks similar to the A10
Advent's AWP10 is a ‘multifunction' printer-scanner that's the bigger brother of the Advent A10 we've already reviewed.
The W and the P in the name indicate that this one has all the features of the A10 as well as a wireless network connection and a larger screen (better for photos, we assume, hence the P).
It looks similar to the A10, with paper feeding through from a flip-up holder at the back to an output tray at the front, and a scanner section on top that lifts off for cartridge installation.
It takes the same three-colour and black cartridges as the A10 and this was the source of the main downside. Although this device is cheap up-front, ink costs will be high: we worked them out at 5.5p for a standard page of text and 14.4p for a colour print.
That's higher than most of the competition, particularly as these devices are made for Advent by Kodak, which prides itself on low ink costs for its own-brand printers.
Still, quality and speed were both good and very similar to those of the A10 (no surprise as they share major parts).

Our verdict
If you won't be printing very much, the AWP10 will be good value, but otherwise it may well be a false economy
