Boost your computer's file transfer speed
When installed it gives the computer two extra USB 3 sockets
This small expansion card (model number 16908) goes inside a desktop computer – it requires a spare PCI Express slot on the computer's motherboard in order to fit.
That of course means that fitting it requires opening up the computer's case, though fitting a PCI Express card is one of the simplest expansions that can be done at home. It requires a power connection – you need to attach one of the small internal power cables from the computer's power supply to the socket on the card, but again this was easy to do and was explained in the setup documentation.
When installed it gives the computer two extra USB sockets, both of which use the fastest USB 3 standard (of course, you'll need a suitable USB 3 device to make best use of it). Drivers must be installed from the supplied CD, but this was a painless process and the card worked fine once we had done it.
Although USB 3 can in theory increase speeds 10-fold, you're likely to see much less in practice – with this card fitted we doubled the transfer speeds on our test USB 3 disk, which is not to be sniffed at.

It's relatively expensive but this expansion card was easy to fit and worked well
