Speedy and portable external disk
This small storage device (a little smaller than an old audio cassette tape) connects to computers using the USB 3 interface. That's the fastest version of the USB standard and provides for much faster data transfer than was possible before.
You can plug this device into any standard USB socket but for the full speed benefit a USB 3 socket is required, perhaps using an adapter such as the Sweex US110 or US111.
We tried the HyperX Max 3.0 with both USB 2 and USB 3 sockets on the same laptop (the latter using the Sweex adapter) and saw the data transfer speed more than double when we moved from USB 2 to USB 3.
Several capacities are available, but we reviewed the cheapest which holds 64GB. Solid-state memory of this kind is still fairly expensive which means the one we looked is much more than the equivalent 64GB USB memory key, but if you regularly have to move large files, the time saving could make it good value.

Our verdict
Relatively expensive, this disk is still good value if you regularly have to transfer very large amounts of files
