Polaroid All-Terrain Tripod

A versatile, clever tripod kit

Polariod all terrain tripod

All three legs are flexible so they can be placed in any position

This versatile tripod is designed for a variety of environments. The main section is different to most tripods – it is styled along the lines of the Gorilla Pod, in which all three legs are flexible so they can be placed in any position or twisted to grip around a pole.

It doesn’t have a quick-release clip – instead the camera must be screwed into the top of the tripod, which was a bit of a hassle. It comes with a hard case.

The three rubber feet of the tripod can be replaced with alternatives, also supplied in the case. These are a set of spikes for digging the tripod into the ground, suction cups to attach it to any flat surface, and even a set of magnetic feet for attaching it to some metal surfaces. The latter was particularly strong, easily holding our Canon EOS 30D camera with lens and flash – a combined weight of over 1kg.

At £85 the kit is relatively expensive, but it worked well, and if you need to secure your camera in any other than the standard ways, the All Terrain Tripod is a good way to do it.
