Add a mirror effect to photos

Load a web browser, highlight what is in the Address or Location line by clicking on it and then type in www.reflectionmaker.com and press Return. The site makes it possible to work on an image that is already stored on a website somewhere (it’s necessary to know its exact URL for this to work) or to upload a photo that’s stored on a PC’s hard disk. That’s what we’re going to do. Reflectionmaker will handle most common types of image file including JPEGs, GIFs and PNG files. Start by clicking the Browse button.

When the Choose File dialogue box opens, use Windows’ file commands to navigate to where the picture is stored (the image must be no larger than 200KB – just hover the mouse pointer over a picture icon to find out how big it is). Select the image and then click the Open button. Back at the website increase or decrease the size of the reflection by dragging the slider left or right. If the photo has a dark background, click the white square under the Background Color and change the background by dragging the pointer around the colour palette.

To see the image and its reflection, click the Generate button. After a moment the picture will appear. Some photos work better than others, and sometimes it’s necessary to change the reflection size or use an image editor to crop the original photo differently. Finished photos can then be copied back to the PC by clicking the download button. Here we’ve done that and opened the My Pictures folder to show the downloaded photo, then flipped back to the website so we can show both together.
