Purge all traces of unwanted programs from your computer to free up hard disk space
Open your web browser, type www.ashampoo.com into the Address or Location bar and press Enter to access the Ashampoo website. Click Tools and Utilities in the left-hand menu followed by Magical Uninstall to access its home page. Click the green Download button and save the executable file ashampoo_magical_uninstall282_fe.exe to your hard disk. Double-click this file and click Run or Continue if prompted. Click Next followed by Yes and then click Next three times. Leave all four boxes ticked and click Next twice to install the program. Once complete, click Finish. Microsoft Word will open with instructions on how to access the program through the Taskbar.
The program registration page will appear: enter your email address and click Send. Check your email account when prompted or log into your Ashampoo account if you’ve previously registered an Ashampoo program with this email address. Either way, once logged in, click the Freebie Registration Keys link to obtain the product key. Select it and press Ctrl and C to copy it to the Windows Clipboard. Switch to the Magical Uninstall Registration window, place the text-entry cursor inside the Registration Key box and press Ctrl and V. When the product key appears, click Save Key.
Once the registration key is accepted, click OK. The News Channel Configuration window will open – we would recommend leaving Updates ticked – and click OK followed by Close if necessary. The program will now be up and running, waiting for a program to be installed. When this occurs, the installation process should begin as normal, but then Magical Uninstall will display a box explaining that an installation program has been detected. To record this installation, leave ‘Monitor the installation with Ashampoo Magical Uninstall’ selected and click OK followed by Continue if prompted.
Magical Uninstall will now record the PC’s current state. The window will chart its progress, which may take some time. Once finished, click OK when prompted and then let the program install itself in the usual way, restarting if necessary. Once the program has been installed, a new window will open telling you the process appears to be complete. For the best results, follow the advice and open the newly-installed program once to allow it to initialise. Once done, close the program and click Save installation log followed by Continue if prompted.
Another PC-configuration snapshot is taken and then compared to the initial snapshot. Once complete, click OK to finish. Just follow the same process every time you install a program in future. If Magical Uninstall doesn’t detect a program installer when it’s run, cancel the installation process. Right-click the Magical Uninstall icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar and choose Install an Application. Use the File Open dialogue box to browse to the location of your program installation file, select it and click Open; Magical Uninstall will now detect the installation program and you can monitor it as before.
Should you wish to uninstall a program, right-click the Magical Uninstall icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar again, but this time choose Uninstall an Application. Select the application from the list and click Open followed by Continue. After a short delay, Magical Uninstall will prompt you to check that the program in question isn’t running; once verified, click OK to continue. If you think you might want to use the program in future, click Yes to create a reinstall file; otherwise click No followed by OK and follow the instructions to complete the program’s complete removal.
