Avoid upsetting the neighbours with noisy online entertainment by setting automated volume controls for certain times of the day
Launch a web browser and visit Softorino. Scroll down to find the sound control program, Volume Concierge, and click the blue Download Now button. If the File Download Security Warning dialogue box appears, click Save and choose a location for the downloaded file. Firefox users should select Save File to save the download to Firefox’s default download folder. Now locate and double-click the downloaded file to launch the installation wizard. Accept the licence agreement and when you see the Customize button, click it. From here it’s possible to define whether Volume Concierge starts at the same time as Windows and whether to run it when the wizard has finished. Leave the settings as they are and finish the installation.
When the Volume Concierge window opens, you will see that currently there are no volume ‘events’ set up. Let’s fix that by clicking the little Add New Volume Rule link and then clicking where it says Off, to slide the switch to the On position. After a second, an activation dialogue box pops up asking for a valid email address: this is required to use Volume Concierge. Type in your email address and click Free Activation. Then, at the next screen click OK.
Now choose either Every Day, Work Days or Weekends from the dropdown menu. After that, click the clock button, choose a time from the dropdown list and then drag the slider to the right to set the desired volume level. Several different volume events can be added if you like – just click the Add New Volume Rule again and repeat the process. To delete one, click the relevant Remove link. Click ‘x’ to send Volume Concierge to the Notification Area, and once it’s there, right-click the speaker icon to open, disable or close the program.
