Having started as a simple pop up blocker, Stopzilla is now a complete anti-spyware package. It stops pop-up adverts, spyware and adware, and removes cookies and browsing history.
The real time protection catches suspicious files before they can run on the computer rather than waiting for full system scans to pick them up.
The pop-up blocker claims to be able to be able to identify legitimate pop ups such as those used by banks and online shops. It can also stop pop ups launched by spyware.
Internet Explorer users also have their homepage settings protected so that websites and software are not able to change it without permission.
The program downloaded from this page will look for the latest version of Stopzilla and download that for installation. In our review this was a further 4.5MB. This installs a 15 day trial version.
Although this is not a free product there is support included in the price via email or web chat. The cost is a yearly subscription rather than a one off charge.
