The Fedora linux distribution is the community version of the Red Hat distribution. As such it draws on the experience of one of the longest players in the Linux market.
This is a DVD-based distribution so be prepared for a lengthy download. The speed may be reduced by using a Bit Torrent download rather than the traditional file download in the link above.
Fedora uses the GNOME desktop by default rather than KDE, which may be more familiar to Windows users. The differences are easy to get used to and it is possible to use KDE.
One limitation compared to other operating systems is that Fedora 7 does not play mp3 music files after installation. This is because of mp3 is not an open standard and the Fedora project would rather people used the opensource ogg format instead.
