Playlist generators can work quite well at suggesting music that fits a mood but they are normally only as good as the information supplied with the music file. MuFin is different because it analyses all of the music on the computer.

The anaylsis can take some time but it is a one-off process for each file. If new music is added existing tracks will not be looked at again. Tags can be added and edited as well.

We found the playlists to be a good mix based on the selected track. There will be an online option but Magix is currently still working through the tracks that will be part of the service.

Playlists can be normalised so there are no big leaps in volume between tracks from different sources. They can be saved, burnt to CD or copied to an MP3 player.

As well as MP3, MuFin can also play OGG files. These are rarer than MP3 but are still found.

Sadly the media keys on our keyboard were not able to control MuFin.

Note that this is the free Base edition download which has certain limitations.
