VST instruments are designed to a standard format so they work in a variety of different music programs such as Ableton Live or Cubase. mda Piano is a VSTi with a wide variety of piano sounds.

It has been created using 31 piano samples and give control over a wide variety of options. Decay and release will be familiar to anyone who has used a synth before but there are also options for Muffle and Hardness for different piano sounds. There are several presets included in the installation to give an idea of what is on offer.

Synths cannot always match the sounds of samplers, where each note is a recording but mda is pretty good, especially when you consider that it is free to download and use.
