With so many jobs vying for attention it can be hard to keep track of
exactly what your time has been spent on.
Klok is a stylish
time-tracking utility that is easy to use.
It works with
Adobe
Air, so you will need to install this before Klok will work.
The default view shows a week and a sample project. Sub-projects can be added
to give more specific information on how time was used.
Time can be recorded by dragging a project or sub-project from the column on
the left onto the weekplanning. Once there the duration can be adjusted as
required. Alternatively, Klok can be told exactly what is being worked on in a
dropdown menu at the top. This starts a timer. The week view is automatically
updated as time passes.
It's also a good habit to get into because it forces you to stick with one
project at a time rather than flitting from one job to another.
Reports can be generated to show how much time has been spent on which
projects by week or month. Alternatively summaries can be produced for the
projects themselves along with comments for individual time periods.
Finished projects can be archived so they do not appear in the diary but can
be restored if needed.
Sadly there is no way to synchronise the recorded tasks from one computer to
another automatically. The
FAQ
page does explain where the data files are kept so it could be used on
several different computers that way. There are also plans for integration with
online databases such as
Freshbooks.
