The worst part of a experiencing a hard drive failure is not replace the physical disk itself but making sure that all of your important documents. Acronis Drive Monitor won't prevent failures but it can give an early warning so you have time to back up documents and photos.
It does this by monitoring what is called SMART data provided by all modern hard disks. SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. The hard disk measure how long it takes to perform certain actions such as how long it takes to reach full speed and the temperature of the disk.
It's not always easy to find this information, or understand it so Acronis Drive monitor has a simple summary screen that only reports on detected problems. It is possible to browse the entire list of SMART information and it has a column showing the threshold values, so it is clear if there is something wrong.
