Workshop: Discover new and old tunes with Musicovery

Tired of ordinary internet radio? Musicovery’s unusual interface offers free listening to suit different moods

Written by Rob Beattie, Computeract!ve

The internet is a fantastic way to discover new kinds of music and new artists, whether via well-known online stores like Apple’s iTunes, or courtesy of some of the more obscure radio stations and podcasts.

However, we’ve never seen – or heard – anything quite like Musicovery, a free website that displays clickable music maps of songs by related artists, based on mood and decade of release.

The result is a highly visual way to get reacquainted with old favourite tracks as well as finding new acts by association.

There’s a paid-for high-fidelity version of Musicovery but as we’ll demonstrate, there’s plenty of mileage in the free one. And you don’t even have to register.

Here's how to use Musicovery
