We’re launching a campaign to ensure that the UK’s broadband users are getting the best value for money.

We’ve teamed up with a number of industry players, including Broadband Choices, which has developed a special speed-testing application on our behalf. The program monitors broadband speeds and collates results, which will be return to us anonymously.

If you wish to become part of our campaign, then download and install the Computeractive Speed Tester. There's a Workshop on installing and using the application in issue 248 of the magazine, although to encourage as many people as possible to take part, we have provided an online version of the Workshop.

Note that the program is free, though a short registration form must be filled in: this is so we can track how and where the application is being used. Notes on how to uninstall the application are included in this Workshop. You can also keep it on your PC to keep track of your ISP performs.

The data will be used to back the launch of a major consumer champion campaign in issue 250 of Computeractive, on sale 20 September.
