Google Maps has rightly gained a reputation as a decent mapping and
navigation system, making it useful both for peering into the back gardens of
prospective neighbours and finding out the best way to get from A to B.
Now it’s possible to personalise these maps with your own content, including
text, photos and ‘hand-drawn’ (actually mouse-drawn) directions.
Maps personalised in this way Google calls them My Maps can be saved and
made public so that anyone can find them using Google’s search features, or
shared among a select group of friends so, for example, directions to a party
will remain secret.
