Q I understand that Microsoft Office 2007 will produce
documents with the new extensions .docx and .xlsx.
Will this make it impossible to use it with my existing documents, which were
all made using Office 2000 and are in .rtf, .doc. and .xls formats?
G Sasse
A Don’t worry - new versions of Word, Excel and the other
programs in Microsoft Office 2007 will still work perfectly happily with
documents created in older versions. The only difference is that, by default,
Office will save new documents in the new formats.
You can, if you wish, select the old Word .doc format by using the Save As
option (and the same principle applies in Excel and the other programs). It’s
also possible to read the new file formats in older versions of Office by
installing the
Office
Compatibility Pack.
