Although touted from the start as a new, more secure version of the world’s
most widespread operating system, Windows Vista still has one serious omission
it doesn’t include an anti-virus program. That means it’s necessary either to
buy one, or sign up to Microsoft’s own Live One Care service. In this Workshop
we’ll explain how to find out what security software is already installed on a
PC and how to add the extras that are missing; then we’ll demonstrate how to
turn off any parts of Vista’s built-in protection that may conflict with a third
party’s anti-virus program so that the PC is as secure as possible from
malicious threats, scams and virus infections.
