PC help: Block runtime error messages

Stop Internet Explorer displaying annoying script error messages

Q Frequently when I surf the internet a message appears that says: ‘Runtime error. Would you like to debug?’

If I select yes, another window called Script Editor appears, containing a lot of text that I can only assume is programming code.

Selecting No clears the box and nothing seems to happen. Is this a sign that something is wrong and, if not, how can I stop it from happening?
L J Fuller

A The script error is a warning that the person who wrote the web page in question made a mistake.

The Script Editor is a program that can be used to correct the mistake but this is pointless because there is no way to save the corrected page back to the site.

Clicking on No simply refuses the opportunity to edit the code. Thankfully there is a way to stop this message from appearing.

For Internet Explorer 7, click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click on Advanced and look for two options in the Browsing section called Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) and (Other). Click in the boxes so that a tick appears and then click on OK.

It is unlikely that these messages are related to a problem with your computer as long as it is up to date with Windows Update.
