As with previous versions of Windows, shortcuts created in Vista feature an
arrow overlay to help distinguish them from other icons.
Many users find these arrows irritating and they can be quickly eliminated by
installing the
Vista
Shortcut Overlay Remover.
After installing the program you can choose between using the default arrow
overlay, a slightly smaller arrow or opt to remove it altogether. A similar
option is available in
TweakVI
which includes several other tweaking options.
