What to do with .exe files once you've installed the software it relates to

Q You often tell us to download a program to the desktop, leaving a file with .exe at the end of the name.

What should be done with this file once this program has been run and the new software installed on the computer? Is it safe to delete it or should it be moved elsewhere?

John Tooth

A Once software has been installed, the .exe file is no longer needed. It can be deleted, but it may be a better idea to move it to a folder for downloaded software to save the hassle of downloading it again. This is especially true of very large files, such as Open Office.
