Of course, there’s no shortage of places to watch videos on the web but Joost
has a fine pedigree.
It is the brainchild of the same guys who came up with the massively popular
Skype internet telephone system and unlike many similar services it is legal.
However, although Joost has been around for a while, it has essentially been
operating in test mode and only those invited could take part.
But now anyone can sign up for Joost, which means it’s possible to tune in to
watch full-screen videos sent over the internet using the broadband speeds
available to most ordinary home users.
Even a connection of 1Mbit/sec is sufficient for decent playback quality and
these days, many people have faster connections than that.
