Check your disc-writing settings

Q I have created several CD-RW discs using Nero and my new
CD burner, but when I insert the disc again to see if it has burned correctly, I
find that there is nothing at all on it. I am using Windows Me.

A Nero has an option to simulate the burning of a disc –
this goes through the whole process, in the same amount of time as it takes to
actually burn a CD, and you might see some activity on the light on the front of
the disc drive. But in this case nothing is actually copied to the disc.
To see whether you’re accidentally simulating burning a disc instead of
actually burning one, open Nero and go through the process of creating a new
disc. Before burning it, click the File menu and select Compilation Properties.
Click the Burn tab in the dialogue box that appears. Make sure the box marked
Simulation is not ticked, and that the box marked Write is ticked. Click OK.
When you click the Burn button, a similar dialogue box will appear; make sure
the same options are still selected – Simulation is not ticked, but Write is.
Burn a disc – this time, data should appear on it when you check it.
