If you have a folder that contains a lot of files or subfolders, it can be
tedious scrolling through them all to find the entry you’re looking for.
However, assuming you know its name, there is a quick way to locate a
specific file or folder without using a mouse.
First open the relevant folder. Now, using the keyboard, simply type the
first letter of the name of the file or folder you’re looking for and the
selection highlight will jump to the first file or folder that starts with that
letter. You can type further letters if you want, to have the selection
immediately highlight the specific file.
