When it comes to input devices, Logitech always seems to be one step ahead of the rest. Its Cordless Mouseman Optical blended optical movement technology with a cordless mouse. Now the company builds on its merging expertise with the Internet Navigator keyboard.
Bigger than the average keyboard, the Internet Navigator has a dozen customisable hotkeys, allowing you to make your way around the internet more easily and quickly. These include dedicated iTouch shortcut buttons that can be designated for your favourite shopping, finance and community web pages, as well as one-touch buttons for email and home pages.
What makes this keyboard different from other internet-rooted models is the inclusion of a scroll wheel. Working just like a standard mouse wheel, you can pan up and down web pages, word processing documents and Windows folders. Moreover, you can choose how you want to use the scroll by selecting from a number of options such as text zoom, volume control and application switching.
On the left flank is the small iNav module that contains not only the scroll wheel but also the most-used button on an internet browser - the Back button. The Go button will allow you to type your desired web address directly into a dialogue box without having to fire up your internet connection.
The Internet Navigator will appeal to music fans, thanks to a multimedia control panel. Forming the crest of the keyboard, eight buttons controlling volume and playback features can be used to operate your multimedia software, such as Windows Media Player and Real Jukebox. Although we've seen this kind of multimedia integration before, it still makes for a practical extra on a keyboard.
With its USB connection, the Internet Navigator is easy to install and comes with a simple set-up CD-ROM.
Its final selling point is the sleek profile that Logitech calls 'Zero-Degree Tilt' technology. This refers to its ultra-flat design which feels very comfortable to work with and reduces the risk of repetitive strain injury.
