The C500 is Orange's third-generation SPV. It runs the new and improved Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software and, like all smartphones, allows you to surf the web, play digital videos, use MSN Messenger and synchronise your Outlook calendar, contacts, tasks and emails.
It's thinner and lighter than the previous Orange SPV E200, and its four-day battery life is double that of before. The docking station is gone, which means that the phone connects to a PC via a USB lead. You can charge the phone this way or use the separate mains charger.
Gone too is the navigational joystick. In its place is a directional scroll button, which is fiddly to start with but quickly becomes second nature. The integrated camera hasn't changed but you can now add picture themes to your MMS messages.
