Kensington WiFi Finder Plus

Using a wireless network is not always as easy as pulling out a notebook or handheld PC and instantly connecting. There's the question of finding a suitable access point or Wi-Fi hotspot, then of whether the signal is strong enough to be able to connect, and so on.

The WiFi Finder Plus fits on a keyring and helps to answer both those questions. Press the button on the front of the device and it scans the local airwaves for signs of wireless networks.

It has five lights to display the strength of a network signal. It will also indicate active Bluetooth networks with a blue light, while a small orange light in one end can act as a torch, although it is not very powerful.

The device works well, but it often showed signals as being less powerful than they were. It's also quite sturdily built, and can take a knock.

Unfortunately it has no screen, so cannot give any details of the network, and this would be a useful addition to the next version.
