Computers leave children bleary eyed

Parents send kids to bed with games and TV, claims research

Computers in childrens' bedrooms keep them awake and potentially damage their long-term health and education prospects, research has claimed. The survey of 1,000 parents of four to 10-year-olds found that two-thirds had a computer or television in their bedroom.

Those with technology in their bedroom got between two and five less sleep each night as a result, claimed hot drink manufacturer Horlicks.

The suggestion was that some parents accede to childrens' wish to play games before going to bed, leaving them tired and unable to concentrate at school the next day.
