Grisoft releases beta of AVG security software

Test version 7.5 for free

Written by Dinah Greek, Computeract!ve

Grisoft has released beta versions of the next editions of its AVG security software.

The free public trials include the entire AVG 7.5 computer security portfolio, new products and updated versions of earlier products that are claimed to be significantly improved.

The security software developer said the new release is the most comprehensive beta program it has launched for users to test.

Trial versions of the software include all tools users need to protect themselves against a growing range of cyber and computer threats including worms, viruses, Trojans, spam and keyloggers, the company said.

This means the suite incorporates anti-spyware, an easy-to-use personal firewall, spam filter, anti-phishing tools, as well as an updated version of AVG Anti-Virus.

Among other claimed improvements on earlier versions are an easier-to-use interface, automatic updates, improvements in data protection and free 24/7 access to customer help.

Feedback from users during the trial will be used to fix potential bugs, as well as provide for further development of AVG products.

The trial versions of AVG 7.5 products are designated for compatibility testing in large numbers of different hardware and software configurations in Windows XP, Windows Vista Beta 2/RC1, and FreeBSD operating systems.

"This is the most comprehensive beta program that Grisoft has launched for its users to test,” said Larry Bridwell, Grisoft's vice president of communications.

"The 7.5 beta program extends our security offerings for home and small business users by adding AVG anti-spyware and AVG anti-malware, which integrates anti-virus and anti-spyware features.
