Date for 2007 Silver Surfer’s Day announced

May date for silver surfer awareness day

Written by Andrea-Marie Vassou, Computeract!ve

Digital Unite has announced it will be running Silver Surfers' Day 2007 in partnership with Ofcom.

Silver Surfers' Day (SSD), which is now in its sixth year, will take place on the 25 May 2007 to coincide with the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) Adult Learners' Week.

The day is aimed at helping older people cross the 'digital divide' and celebrates those who have already done so.

A wide range of new benefits will be available to adult learners and event organisers through Digital Unite in the run-up to this year’s event.

These include an improved internet site with information on the switchover from analogue to digital TV, as well as on general computer use, and a new calendar of learning resources for event holders.

People will also be given the chance to send nominations into the website for the Silver Surfer of the Year Awards, which take place at the Houses of Parliament in October 2007.
