Be Broadband will offer home users upload speeds of up to 2.5Mbits/sec later
this year, making it faster to share files, upload songs and films or back up
over the internet.
The upload speeds, which use the ADSL2+ Annex M industry standard, are
already offered without a cap to Be Office users.
However, in what it claims is a UK first, the company will be extending it to
home users later on in the year, along with 24Mbits/sec download speeds.
The news comes as the
O2-owned
company announced that it has unbundled its 500th exchange, increasing the
coverage to over a third of UK households. It plans to unbundle 200 more
exchanges by June this year to provide further coverage.
Be Broadband said it will reach over 800 exchanges by the end of the summer,
giving it over half the UK population coverage – the rest of the population will
be covered via a wholesale deal with BT.
Prices for the new service have not been announced.
