AOL offers McAfee-based security software package

“8 in 1 protection” keeps an eye on bugs and pop-ups

Written by Andrea-Marie Vassou, Computeractive

AOL has launched a security software package to help keep consumers safe online.

The AOL Security Suite includes a range of features to help block malware and spam.

This includes antivirus, firewall and anti-spyware functions to stop viruses and unauthorised access. The spam prevention and offensive content filtering features protect users from junk emails and block pop ups.

The software, which is a rebranded version of McAfee's security software, automatically backs up files and the one-click restore function helps users retrieve photos, music and other files.

The software, which is Vista compatible, can be set to get the latest security updates automatically.

The package can be downloaded by AOL customers for £2.50 a month. Any new features that are released during the subscription period can be downloaded by customers at no extra cost.
