An interior wall paint that its developers claim can secure computer wireless networks from hackers has been launched in the US.

The Anti-EMI paint produces an electromagnetic shield that has been tested by the US military, which is said to block electromagnetic transmissions emitted by computers, mobile phones, Blackberries and many other devices.

Created by security company EM SEC, the paint can be used on any interior wall, floor or ceiling – but it only comes in beige. However, a more colourful top coat can be painted over it.

The paint is currently only available for businesses in the US. However, it seems that the UK public may not have to wait too long to get their hands on it.

A spokesman for EM SEC told Computeractive that the company was “currently in talks with the US Department of Commerce to explore export opportunities.

“The UK is one of our primary target markets,” he said.
