A relevision service and website for those using British Sign Language (BSL)
has been launched.
Veesee TV gives
viewers the chance to watch BSL and subtitled content via the internet or on a
television set through a set-top box.
It will include news, containing original journalist submissions and
presented by deaf and hearing translators and other programmes which will be
sorted into different genres such as comedy and drama.
In addition people can also submit their own programmes and advertisements
which may then be selected to be shown on the TV channel.
Those films chosen may be charged on a pay-per-view basis, giving the
creator the chance to make some money. Prices for this will be announced later
in 2007.
In addition to watching and creating films, visitors to the website can use
BSL to chat over forums and communicate using webcam-to-webcam video streaming.
There is also the opportunity to and buy and sell goods over the website's
auction facility.
