Epson has launched a scanner aimed at photography enthusiasts.
According to its maker, the
Epson
Perfection V200 Photo scans film and photographs at up to 4,800dpi and it
also comes with a range of new software.
These include the Auto Photo Orientation, which Epson claims straightens
photos that have been inserted off-angle on the flatbed of the scanner, and a
built-in transparency unit, which is said to scan six frames of 35mm stripfilm
or four frames of slides at once. A multiple Scan to PDF button automatically
saves documents into Pdf format so they are easy to email and file.
The V200 also comes with an extendable hinge which gives users the
opportunity to scan documents up to 25mm thick with the lid closed. For those
that need to scan thick textbooks with spines the scanner also works when the
lid is fully open.
In addition the scanner also comes with Epson's Easy Photo Fix software which
is said to improve digital dust correction and backlight colour restoration for
old and faded images. The Epson Scan 3.1 also claims to analyse an image whilst
scanning to detect the top direction of the image and automatically rotates
itself.
