Corel has released a new version of Paint Shop Pro image-editing software which it says is for both beginners and professional users.

Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 includes a range of new photo-editing features, from automatic one-click adjustment tools to precision controls that allow advanced users to fine-tune images.

Other features include the Express Lab, which allows users to crop, rotate and apply colour adjustments to a large number of images without having to open each one individually. Corel claims that this will make viewing and editing photos quicker.

Users will also be able to create high dynamic range (HDR) photos by merging several shots taken using different exposures. This can create images with more shadow and highlight detail than is normally possible from a single image.

The new Makeover tools include a Thinify tool, which can make subjects look thinner, and an Eye Drops tool that removes the red from bloodshot eyes.

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 is priced at £79. Users of many older Paint Shop Pro packages can upgrade for £50.
