T-Mobile is offering its customers what it says is the first pay-per-day
mobile broadband service.
Web’n’walk Plus Daily gives T-Mobile
customers wireless broadband internet access without needing a contract.
Users do not need a fixed line and connect to the internet via a T-Mobile USB
modem and their T-Mobile mobile phone.
However, the service is not cheap. Users will be charged £4 every time they
log onto the internet via this service. T-Mobile has also introduced a fair use
policy of 3GB (of data sent and received in the UK) per month, which it says
will “ensure a high quality of service for all customers”.
If users exceed this allowance, they will be given a warning the first time.
If it happens again they will have network protection controls applied to their
account resulting in a reduced network speed for 14 days.
Repeat offenders will be kept on the network protection controls, resulting
in a reduced network speed until they upgrade their price plan and go onto a
monthly contract. This will entitle them to a larger data allowance.
The Web’n’Walk Plus package, which allows people to browse the internet,
email, download or stream data and send instant messages to £20 a month.
Meanwhile, Web’n’Walk Max, includes internet telephony service such as Skype,
and will cost £35.
