Being able to turn the PS3 on an off using any Wifi connection means owners
can listen to music or look at photos or watch the videos saved on the PS3 hard
drive no matter where they are in the world.
The upgrade also lets people create personalised playlists for both their
music and photos. Another tweak is that the Xrossmediabar can be customised with
themes, colours and backgrounds.
Because of the pervasiveness of internet threats, Sony has also come to an
arrangement with PC security company Trendmicro for PS3 users to get web
security.
This service is going to be provided free of charge until the end of April
2008 after which users will be offered a subscription. The method and the price
have not been finalised as yet but more details can be found on a
website
set up by Trendmicro.
Use of remote play requires at least PS3 version 1.80 as well as PSP firmware
version 3.50.
