Canon launches £35 printer

New range also includes calculators made from recycled materials

Canon has announced a range of new products for 2008, including a new inkjet printer that will cost £35.

The company claims the iP2600 can churn out a 10x15cm photo print in just 55 seconds. Unlike the older iP2500, which it replaces, it has an output tray to catch printed pages rather than simply dropping them onto the desk.

Canon also announced a new 8-megapixel compact digital camera, the IXUS 80 IS, which includes an optical image stabiliser to minimise blur and allow flash-free photos in low light. The camera, which will be available in several colours from March, will cost around £220.

At the other end of its camera range, the new EOS 450 digital SLR takes 12.2-megapixel images. It will cost £680 with a lens or £600 without when released in March.

Other new products include a number of office printers, and a range of calculators made from materials recycled from Canon's photocopier products. The recycled calculators, which include a three-year guarantee, will cost from £3.50.
