Corel Videostudio offers high-definition video editing

Images can be directly burned to Blu-ray discs

Written by Andrea Vassou, Computeractive

Corel has added two high-definition (HD) video-editing software packages to its range.

Videostudio Pro X2 and Videostudio Pro X2 Ultimate let users import images and video clips from phones, hard disks or camcorders and burn them directly to Blu-ray discs.

Both have an uploading and Flash animation feature so that videos can be shared online with friends at sites such as Youtube and Facebook. They can also be sent to portable devices such as Blackberrys and iPhones.

People can mix and match clips using the timeline feature, and rotate and trim videos. The pan and zoom features can be used to detect people and faces in a still shot.

The overlay feature can be used to add painting, writing or drawing captions for clips. The film effects option offers 81 effects ranging from hand-cranked cameras, horror effects to dirty projectors.

Both pieces of software work with the Windows Media Library in Vista.

VideostudioPro X2 Ultimate also comes with the Creative Content Pack. This offers 150 frames and borders as well as the Steinberg Wave Lab, which allows people to make their own music, add tracks or put in voiceovers.

Both packages are on sale now, with Videostudio Pro X2 costing £59 and the Ultimate edition £79.
