BT Vision and NBC offer high-definition films

Agreement with studio allows BT Vision customers range of new releases and classic titles

Written by Dinah Greek, Computeract!ve

An agreement between BT Vision and NBC Universal will allow users of the digital TV service to download high-definition films from the studio’s library.

BT Vision’s Hi-Def on demand movie service, which uses the existing V-box to download films, was launched this month.

Customers are only charged after a flm has been downloaded and viewing started; the agreement with NBC Universal allows BT Vision customers to watch the studio’s film repeatedly during a 48 hour rental period.

A range of HD film titles from NBC Universal will be available including current blockbusters The Incredible Hulk, Wanted and Charlie Wilson’s War, alongside classic library titles such as E.T. – The Extra Terrestrial, Shaun of the Dead and Miami Vice. Current BT Vision HD films will be priced at £4.95 each, with library titles costing £2.95.

Dan Marks, BT Vision’s chief executive officer, said: “The inclusion of HD films now makes BT Vision an even more compelling service, immediately delivering the benefits of high-definition content but without the high cost of additional monthly subscription fees or an expensive new set-top box.”
