Q A while ago you explained
how
to remove the arrows that appear over shortcut icons in Windows XP. But is
it possible to do the same thing if you are using Windows Vista?
Peter Williams
A In Windows XP you can use a Microsoft program called
TweakUI
to make changes to the icons that appear in Windows, including removing the
arrows from shortcuts.
However, Microsoft has not released a version of TweakUI that will do the
same thing for Windows Vista. Instead you can use a program called
FrameworkX
to do the same thing.
Take a look at the
instructions
and download the program using the link on the How-To Geek web page.
When you see the box asking what kind of shortcut icon you would like, select
the appropriate option and click Apply, then follow any other prompts that
appear.
