Smart Graphic Kid

A graphics package aimed at teenagers.

Verdict:

Overall:
Teenagers looking to do some image manipulation should look to the more common image-editing packages rather than this one.

Considering that Smart Graphic Kid is aimed at a teen audience, there is little in the program itself to indicate this.

The menus are laid out in the same way as the majority of other graphics packages and offer the same tools for cropping, rotating applying effects and so on. Filter effects, which are by far the most fun aspect of most image-editing programs, are in some cases more difficult to use and less friendly than their adult-orientated counterparts. There is very little in the way of help either.

In fact, the only thing that is teen-orientated in this package is the ability to alter the 'skin' of the interface, and even this is very poor and half-hearted.

If your teen is set on doing a bit of image manipulation, we recommend you get them started with one of the more common image-editing packages on the market. If your children are younger, let them play around with the Windows Paint program. They may well struggle a little at first, but they will end up learning skills which can be transferred to almost any other image editor.
