Review: Is the 'Google phone' any good?

T-Mobile's G1 phone uses Google's much-talked-about Android operating system. We find out whether to believe the hype.

The T-Mobile G1, commonly known as the Google phone, is the first to use the search company's Android operating system.

It's being talked about as a potential rival to the iPhone, with a similar large touch-screen, mapping with GPS, music and video playback and downloadable applications.

In addition the G1 has a slide-out keyboard and a few other nifty touches, but it falls down in a couple of places too.

The G1 is available from T-Mobile in the UK. Contract prices start at £40 per month with no upfront charge for the phone.
