A word processor is perhaps the easiest computer program to use, involving little more than tapping the keys on a keyboard in the right order and remembering to save the document when it’s finished, but Microsoft Word is packed with sophisticated writing and editing tools for those who need them.
Two of these are the Find and Replace commands, whose functions are so closely linked that it’s customary to think of them as a single tool. They make it possible to find and jump to any word or phrase in an instant, and reshape a document by automatically changing words, fonts and other aspects of a document’s appearance. The steps that follow are for versions of Word up to 2003, but the suggested keyboard shortcuts will also work in Word 2007.
